Things That I Wish I Was Taught (Or At Least Taught Sooner) ~ Guest Post by Lavender Bleu!

  Hey there!  She's back! Returning for her second time to WTY, Lavender Bleu now brings us a post about things she wishes she was taught (or at least, taught sooner). I think that a lot of teens have a list of things they wish they were taught, or they will. Maybe Lavender Bleu's post will teach you about a few things before you reach a point where you think "man, I wish I'd known that sooner" later on in life.  Her blog is  Always Write The Good Write , so once you're done here, pay her a visit!  As always, you're encouraged to comment your thoughts, experiences, and questions here (maybe leave a comment about something you  wish you had known sooner). Just remember to be respectful. :)  - EJ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hi, it’s Lavender Bleu again, remember me? Yes? No? Well, I’m one of the guest posters on WTY, a blogger (obviously), and a lover of cats. Anyway, I’m here to share another guest post on WTY, this time about things that I wish my parents (or some

Voices of Youth: A Website Just Like WTY!

    YO, guys.  I found a THING.  I've been having a hard time figuring out exactly what to refer to WTY as, how to explain my goal with it, etc.  And then one day- today actually- I was bored and googled "We The Youth", wondering what would come up.  First thing I found was something about painting murals. I was like "Welp that looks cool but that's not me" and added "blog" to the search engine. And what did I find? What did I find? I found Voices of Youth, a website that is already doing what I'm trying  to do here! DUDE. Nothing new under the sun, amiright?  Like guys, it's got a thing for you to guest post. It's got a phrase that says "for the youth and by the youth"! It covers world events, social media, human rights, abuse, cultural differences, the economy , EVERYTHING, from diverse views!   Just listen to this paragraph from their FAQ's!  "Voices of Youth is a global community for young people to learn about de

National Suicide Awareness Day (several days late)

  *bolts in* *screeching tire sounds as I accidentally run past* *hurries back*  HELLO!  This post is a few day late. Why? Because I didn't know National Suicide Awareness Day was a thing until the 10th and normally I write posts well in advance of when it comes out. And then, as I was writing this on the 11th planning to post it that day, I realized it was 9/11 and wrote a different post in honor of it, then I wanted to make my post about Netflix's "Cuties" because it appalled me and I wanted to speak out about it while it was circulating. Needless to say, this got pushed back quite a bit. So, here's National Suicide Awareness Day Pt. 2.  Wanna honor the day with me? Here's how you can do it: Share things Share and repost stuff that is offering encouragement to those who have lost someone to suicide, to those who are suicidal, and  things that are honoring and remembering those who took their own lives.  It's a pretty dark thing to talk about, and so not

"Cuties": Netflix's Pedophiliac Lust

  **This post contains several sexual references and terms. Sensitive and younger youth should exercise caution when reading.** Hey youth, If you've not heard of the Netflix original called "Cuties", I envy you, as well as apologize for being the one to introducing it to you.  Before you continue reading, let's read the definition of pedophilia: "Pedophilia: An obsession with children as sex objects. Overt acts, including taking sexual explicit photographs, molesting children, and exposing one's genitalia to children are all crimes." - Legal Dictionary  "Pedophilia: An abnormal obsession with children as sex objects. A person who acts upon this obsession, by molesting a child, taking explicit photographs, and performing other acts specified by law, is guilty of the crime." - Nolo's Plain-English Law Dictionary Now, keep that in mind, and read on. The movie description for it on Netflix is this: "Eleven-year-old Amy starts to rebel agai

9/11 Anniversary: 2020

  **Disclaimer: I do not own the copyright or even know if there is copyright to any of the photos included in this post.  If I knew where each photo was from, I would credit them.  As this day is a important one, I think imagery of its events nineteen years ago is important.** Hey youth, Nineteen years ago today, my nation, the United States of America, suffered from a horrific terrorist attack.  I wish I was able to go and tell you every single story I know about this awful day. I wasn't born at the time, but it's no less a important day to me, and so spreading awareness of it is something that I really want to do given some things that a certain state  (*cough* New Jersey *cough*) has done. Instead of telling you every single second-hand thing I know about this day, I'm going to tell you briefly about what happened (in case you need a refresher or are not natively American and don't know).  The twin towers were part of the World Trade Center. These buildings were a d

When You Can't Help

     Hey there, In this day and age, when everyone is either depressed, anxious, confused, stressed, suicidal, self loathing, or has some other issue going on, youth are faced with trying to be peer-support systems. And it can be a good thing, for sure, but there's been so many times in my personal experience, as well as times I have observed with others, where it's like all I can do it make a situation worse. Sometimes it's because I don't have the experience, sometimes it's because  I do, sometimes it's because I having something going on at the same moment, sometimes I over empathize, sometimes I don't empathize at all. Whatever the case may be, it seems like I make things worse when I try to help.  I wish I could say I was writing this post to share with you all the things I did to overcome this, all the things I've figured out to work my way through any scenario, but sadly can't.  All I have to offer to you is a very small list of things that I&
