I'm EJ, the writer behind this site.

Below are some questions and answers about this website that you may like to know about. Take a look, and if there's a question you're still wondering about, feel free to leave it in the comments! I'll get back to you when I can. :)

Why center this around the youth?

Modern day youth (from tweens to young adults) have a lot on their plate. This world has become more chaotic and confusing in addition to the everyday struggles the youth faces (school, stepping into adulthood, earning money, finding your beliefs, finding community, finding yourself, etc). I believe that we, the youth, should have a place for support and direction during this.
I may not be able to offer direction, as I'm just a youth myself, but I will provide as many resources, ideas, thought provoking posts, and Biblical truths and reminders to help you find it.

The second reason is this: As a youth, I've found that today's kids are greatly misrepresented. Or maybe mistreated, or misunderstood. Perhaps that's common for every generation of youth, but I'm not talking about past generations, I'm talking about this one.
And it is my experience that leaders of the youth today treat the youth not as people approaching adulthood, but as children. And I believe there is a reason for that, and that some kids need to be treated differently than others, but they should never be demeaned.

So, part of my mission with this blog is to reach out to the youth, be they like me or not, in respectful, encouraging, and Godly ways.

What do you post about?

I will post about various things. From videos and sermons I've found, to my perspective on current day events, to politics, to Bible verses, to trends, to the youth's place in the Church, to ministering as a youth, to many other subjects. And in all of those things, I hope to put a spotlight on God, as it's Him we need to focus on through this.
Because that is my hope, and goal, I also will try not to speak on opinion alone. Sometimes you need someone to state the facts, or to tell a story without giving their thoughts on it. But as I believe that the youth's opinions matter, I will give my personal thoughts and opinions when the occasion arises in a respectful manner.

How many people write for WTY?

As of right now, just me, EJ. I have every intention of having guest posters from the world of young Christian bloggers (and young bloggers who are Christian), so keep an eye out for those!
When a guest poster does post, please consider that I am not the author of those posts and because of that I may not fully agree with what the author says. I also might agree 100%, it will vary case by case.

Basically, keep in mind that every post on this blog will be written by an individual whose opinions are their own and do not necessarily represent the opinion of We The Youth as a whole.

What is your reader interaction like?

I welcome any youth who reads this blog to give their thoughts, opinions, take-aways, and so on, in the comments of any post. This is about the youth as a whole and reaching out to them, so if you have a thought you want to share, please do so! I only ask that you be respectful and refrain from starting heated debates. If you get in a disagreement with someone, there's no harm in backing away until you're calm, or leaving the conversation all together. :)

Will there you post any content I should avoid if I have triggers?

There may be. This blog will be clean, and I won't permit any guest poster of mine to make any inappropriate references or language. However, subjects such as abuse (of various sorts) may (and likely will) be mentioned. Not to cause fear or harm, but to reach the youth who are hurting in those areas as well as to raise awareness and give an idea to those who aren't in those situations an idea of how to help.
When that is the case, I will put a trigger warning at the beginning of the post.

When you are no longer a "youth" will you retire this blog?

Hmm... Not sure about that.  I don't think I will, but we'll just have to see. That's quite some time from now, anyways. ;D

Do you have a posting schedule?

I do not. I will try to post once a week, but we'll just see how it goes. I have a writing blog to keep up with (under a different pen name ;) ) as well so I'm all over the place with my time and creative energy.

Why I Stopped Going to Youth Group (and Why I Started WTY)

Welcome back to WTY! I mention the basics of why I started WTY in my Qs&As tab, but what I didn't go into was why I'm so passionate about this. And youth group has a very big part in that. For my non-Christian readers, you may be wondering "what's a youth group"? A youth group is basically all of the youth of a church (ages vary, but mine is 13-18 year olds) gathering on a day (mine is Sundays) and playing and hanging out at the church with a lesson from the youth pastor (a pastor who specializes in corralling teenagers, basically). The first part of this post is why I stopped going. The next half will be how it relates to WTY. The youth pastor was always changing My church went through three youth pastors throughout my time at youth group. Each time you got to know one, began to trust them, began to feel comfortable enough to be honest and open up like you're supposed to be able to do,   they would leave and you'd have to restart the process. It was

Gina Carano Gets Canceled - and Gets a New Partnership

Hey youth!  I imagine you likely know about the Disney+ show, The Mandalorian . And if you do, you likely also know one of the star characters; Cara Dune.  Cara Dune is the strong, independent, cliche-breaking, feminine, leading character that women want  to see. She isn't the hourglass-practically-starved-and-very-sexualized body type, she is strong, broad, muscular, and beautiful. She is independent and she is also kind and supportive of others. She's tough without trying to be a man. She isn't cocky, arrogant, rude, and doesn't make the ridiculous "what, because I'm a woman?" or "ugh men" comments. And in general, she's just a really good character.  I was thrilled when I saw her in The Mandalorian, and I was certain that for once everyone (feminists, Liberals, Conservatives, etc.) would be happy. I was sadly mistaken.  I've been wanting to find a way to incorporate my love for this character and appreciation for the actress, Gina Ca

Voices of Youth: A Website Just Like WTY!

YO, guys.  I found a THING.  I've been having a hard time figuring out exactly what to refer to WTY as, how to explain my goal with it, etc.  And then one day- today actually- I was bored and googled "We The Youth", wondering what would come up.  First thing I found was something about painting murals. I was like "Welp that looks cool but that's not me" and added "blog" to the search engine. And what did I find? What did I find? I found Voices of Youth, a website that is already doing what I'm trying  to do here! DUDE. Nothing new under the sun, amiright?  Like guys, it's got a thing for you to guest post. It's got a phrase that says "for the youth and by the youth"! It covers world events, social media, human rights, abuse, cultural differences, the economy , EVERYTHING, from diverse views!   Just listen to this paragraph from their FAQ's!  "Voices of Youth is a global community for young people to learn about de
