Why I Stopped Going to Youth Group (and Why I Started WTY)

Welcome back to WTY! I mention the basics of why I started WTY in my Qs&As tab, but what I didn't go into was why I'm so passionate about this. And youth group has a very big part in that. For my non-Christian readers, you may be wondering "what's a youth group"? A youth group is basically all of the youth of a church (ages vary, but mine is 13-18 year olds) gathering on a day (mine is Sundays) and playing and hanging out at the church with a lesson from the youth pastor (a pastor who specializes in corralling teenagers, basically). The first part of this post is why I stopped going. The next half will be how it relates to WTY. The youth pastor was always changing My church went through three youth pastors throughout my time at youth group. Each time you got to know one, began to trust them, began to feel comfortable enough to be honest and open up like you're supposed to be able to do,   they would leave and you'd have to restart the process. 9/11 Anniversary: 2020

**Disclaimer: I do not own the copyright or even know if there is copyright to any of the photos included in this post.  If I knew where each photo was from, I would credit them.  As this day is a important one, I think imagery of its events nineteen years ago is important.** Hey youth, Nineteen years ago today, my nation, the United States of America, suffered from a horrific terrorist attack.  I wish I was able to go and tell you every single story I know about this awful day. I wasn't born at the time, but it's no less a important day to me, and so spreading awareness of it is something that I really want to do given some things that a certain state  (*cough* New Jersey *cough*) has done. Instead of telling you every single second-hand thing I know about this day, I'm going to tell you briefly about what happened (in case you need a refresher or are not natively American and don't know).  The twin towers were part of the World Trade Center. These build...

Things That I Wish I Was Taught (Or At Least Taught Sooner) ~ Guest Post by Lavender Bleu!

Hey there!  She's back! Returning for her second time to WTY, Lavender Bleu now brings us a post about things she wishes she was taught (or at least, taught sooner). I think that a lot of teens have a list of things they wish they were taught, or they will. Maybe Lavender Bleu's post will teach you about a few things before you reach a point where you think "man, I wish I'd known that sooner" later on in life.  Her blog is  Always Write The Good Write , so once you're done here, pay her a visit!  As always, you're encouraged to comment your thoughts, experiences, and questions here (maybe leave a comment about something you  wish you had known sooner). Just remember to be respectful. :)  - EJ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hi, it’s Lavender Bleu again, remember me? Yes? No? Well, I’m one of the guest posters on WTY, a blogger (obviously), and a lover of cats. Anyway, I’m here to share another guest post on WTY, this time about things that I wish my parents (or ...
